Chaka got laid off in his fifties, from a department that disappeared. First and only layoff of his life. He took an hourly job after it that he does not romanticize; it was the worst work of his life.
What it taught him was not that jobs are bad. It was that he had built his entire income on a decision somebody else was making, in a room he was not in. He got licensed the following year, and started asking a question he has not stopped asking since: why do some families build wealth that lasts for generations, while others work their whole lives and leave almost nothing behind?
The answer was not income and it was not luck. It was a system, written down, that the next pair of hands could actually use. Most families are handed a faucet and told to work harder at turning it on. Nobody hands them the bucket.
That discovery changed the way Chaka works with clients. He stopped thinking like an insurance salesperson and started thinking like a wealth architect. He designs financial systems that protect, grow and pass on wealth at the same time.
