Life Insurance & IUL Strategy in Arizona

Arizona is not a pin on a coverage map for me. I was born in a Tempe hospital. Family is still spread across the Valley, so trips out west are already on the calendar rather than something that has to be arranged.

  • Licensed in Arizona · NPN 11126989. Look me up before we talk. I would rather you did.
  • Book any hour · sessions Mon–Sat, 9am–8pm ET
  • Independent, not captive to any one carrier

Video and phone year-round. In-person across the Phoenix metro. Tempe, Mesa, Scottsdale, Chandler, Gilbert; during scheduled visits.

From Chaka

I was born here

Tempe hospital, and family still all over the city. Which means when I am in Arizona I am not flying in for a sales trip. I am home, and sitting down with a family while I am out there is the easiest thing in the world to arrange.

When it is not 115 degrees or the middle of monsoon season, you will find me out on the trails. If you want to talk about this over a hike instead of a conference call, I am genuinely up for that; it would not be the first time.

That is the difference between an agent who is licensed in your state and an agent who knows your state. I know which months are unbearable, I know the freeway everyone complains about, and I know that nobody here changes their clocks.

— Chaka Ali, born in Tempe

  • No daylight saving, and it mattersArizona does not change its clocks, so the gap to the East Coast shifts twice a year and catches people out constantly. Our booking calendar handles it automatically and we hold slots that land inside a normal Valley afternoon.
  • A lot of people work for themselvesArizona has a high share of contractors, trades and small business owners. When there is no employer plan and no match to capture first, the question of where the next dollar goes is more urgent, and the answer looks different.
  • Snowbirds and split householdsPlenty of Valley families are only here part of the year, or have parents who are. Coverage does not care where you winter, but it does care which state issued the policy; worth getting right the first time.
  • In person while we are outPhoenix, Tempe, Mesa, Scottsdale, Chandler, Gilbert. Trips out are regular because family is here; ask when you book and we will tell you the next window.

What's different about Arizona

Family here, not just a license here

Born in Tempe, relatives across the Valley, and out there often enough that meeting in person is usually a scheduling question rather than a travel budget question. That is a different relationship than a 1-800 number in another time zone.

Built around no employer plan

If you are self-employed, there is no match to max first and no group life to fall back on. That removes the easiest piece of advice we usually give and makes the protection layer genuinely urgent; because nothing is doing that job for you already.

The heat is a real scheduling factor

Nobody wants to do anything in July and August, and monsoon season has its own opinions about your calendar. We schedule around it; evenings, early mornings, and video whenever that is simply easier.

Two very different conversations

Most people arrive wanting one of these. They are not the same product and they are not for the same person, so we will tell you which one fits.

Indexed Universal Life (IUL)

For Arizona households building long-term, tax-advantaged wealth on top of protection, with a 5 to 7 year horizon at minimum.

  • Balanced Uncapped Index Account; 113% participation, 0.75% floor on the indexed credit
  • Blended across S&P 500, Fidelity SMID Multifactor Index, Nikkei 225
  • Access designed to be income-tax-free when properly structured
  • Death benefit in force from day one

Not right for everyone. If you have no emergency fund, or you are not yet capturing your full employer 401(k) match, do those first, we will say so.

How the IUL works

Final Expense Coverage

For Arizona families who want the funeral and the last bills handled so nobody has to fundraise during a week they should be grieving.

  • Coverage from $1,000 to $50,000, ages 0 to 85
  • Most applicants qualify with health questions and no medical exam
  • Guaranteed issue where health is a barrier, and it is worth knowing what that means: the full amount is not payable in the first two years. Most people do not need it, because a few health questions get them day one coverage instead. How to tell which one you are looking at
  • Premium locks at the rate you qualify for and does not increase

For context: the median funeral with a viewing and burial in the Mountain region runs about $7,390, and with cremation about $5,505. Source: National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) General Price List Study, 2023. These are regional medians across many providers. They are not a quote, and not what any particular funeral home in Arizona will charge you. Ask them directly, and ask for the itemized price list they are required to give you.

Straightforward, quick, and a completely different conversation from wealth building. Plenty of our AZ clients only ever need this.

  • Brother Chaka is very knowledgeable and works within your budget. He takes his time and converses with you about your needs and goals to make sure you get what is best for you and your family. He does not try and force anything on you. He reviewed some of my other policies and educated me on their gaps. Working with him I feel like I made a well informed decision.
